Where did the Pride tradition in June come from?

Pride Month is a tradition that started 50 years ago on June 28, 1970. That day was exactly one year after The Stonewall Uprising of 1969, a series of protests against discrimination towards LGBTQ+ people. Take a look at some video footage from the first Pride march.

Where is Pride celebrated?

The first Pride event happened in New York City. Today, variations of it are celebrated across the country and around the world. Countries that participated last year include Austria, Taiwan, and more.

How is Pride being celebrated during the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic?

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has canceled Pride events in 2020, the celebration continues virtually through online events like this virtual garden party  and this global virtual celebration. A calendar of global events can also be seen here.
